Michał Kawecki is a Polish, London based composer, pianist and teacher.

As a Composer the most important element of his artistic practice is the balance between two extremes: experiment and connections with tradition. He is also involved in electronic  music and contemporary vocal composition. For the last couple of years he has been strongly interested in the musical reflection of extreme emotional states and mental diseases. 

He has collaborated with various ensembles performers and organisations, such as: EXAUDI, Alice Purton (Plus-Minus Ensemble), students at the London Contemporary Dance School, students and professors at the Academy of Music in Łódź and "Młodzi nie.poważni" Symphony Orchestra.

Michał Kawecki's works have been premiered among othersat the Lviv National Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Academies of Music in Łódź, Poznań and Bydgoszcz, Middlesex University London, The Place Theatre and Milton Court Concert Hall in London.

He also cooperated with graduates of Film School in Łódź which resulted in two animations that were premiered at the festivals around the world.

He is a laureate of several international and national composition competitions.

In 2020 he graduated with a distinction his Master’s degree  in Composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, mentored by Malcolm Singer. Previously, he had completed his Bachelor's degrees in Composition (2018) and in Theory of Music at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

As a result of his interest in contemporary vocal composition, currently he is continuing his education at the Master's course in Opera Making & Writing (Composer Pathway) in Association with The Royal Opera House at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, which will result in the composition and performance of a new chamber opera.
